Dating Site Will Start Penalizing Daters For Ghosting On The App

You might be looking for love or just someone to spend an evening with, dating apps are one of the most popular ways to meet someone. However, swiping through all those potential dates can be a lot, which is why so many people end up feeling burnout. Hinge gets it and they’re trying something new to help singles with dating app fatigue.

Hinge survey shows a lack of responsiveness is one of biggest obstales in dating for 44% of singles. To help stop all that ghosting, the dating app is testing a new “Your Turn Limits” feature.

  • With it, users with eight or more people waiting for a response from them will have to either reply or end the chat to continue sending or receiving additional likes.
  • Hinge’s research shows that focusing on fewer conversations at a time leads to faster responses, which boosts the chance of moving things off the app and on to a date.
  • They’ve found matches where the first message got a response within 24 hours were 72% more likely to result in a date.

“In today’s dating world, it’s become far too normalized for people to send likes liberally and leave their conversations sitting, leading to feelings of dating burnout for people seeking relationships,” explains Stephane Taine , Chief Product Officer at Hinge. “With the ‘Your Turn Limits’ test, we’re encouraging daters to keep the momentum going with their current conversations or properly close out a conversation to give the person on the other side the closure they need to continue their dating journey.”
