USDA Approves Lab Grown Chicken

OK, I know there's an ick factor around this...that knee jerk reaction when you hear the words 'lab grown chicken.' It just doesn't sound very appetizing, however, if it does taste the same and can eliminate the killing of chickens, maybe it's a good thing?

The US Department of Agriculture has just given the green light to the sale of lab grown chicken here in the United States. Singapore is the only other country in the world to allow the sale of meat grown from animal cells in steel tanks.

This could be an alternative to farming live animals. The chickens are probably happy about that.

If you want to sample some for yourself, the faux “chicken” is on the menu already at one restaurant in San Francisco called Bar Crenn, and lab grown chicken will soon be sold at in Washington DC at a ‘yet to be disclosed’ location.

I think we're going to see more and more of this very soon. I would give it a try. I mean come on, the chicken in a chicken nugget doesn't look real anyway.
