Senator: "Serious Concerns About Radioactive Water At Pilgrim"

Ten state legislators are calling for the owner of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station to cease the evaporation of radioactive water.

The letter to Holtec Decommissioning International raises "significant concerns" about a process that has no treatment, monitoring, or oversight.

The letter from state Senator Susan Moran, whose constituency includes the Plymouth and Barnstable districts, calls for a halt to the process until the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection can analyze the method.

HDI officials maintain the process is safe, and has been trying to dispose of nearly one million gallons of radioactive water that remain on site.
