At the inspiring age of 96, Bill Wright recently reached new heights by hiking to the top of Yosemite National Park’s famous Half Dome. This remarkable feat makes Wright the oldest person ever recorded to complete the grueling 17-mile round trip trek. The climbed ascends 4,800 feet while traversing rocky terrain and steep cliffs. Though a lifelong hiking enthusiast, Wright had twice previously aborted his attempts to summit Half Dome due to unsafe conditions. But he remained determined, training extensively to enhance his strength and stamina.
… On July 18, equipped with hiking poles, gloves and grit, Wright finally accomplished the ambitious climb on his third try.
