Martha’s Vineyard residents appear to be supportive of Sunday hunting.
Massachusetts has banned hunting on Sunday, since the time of the Puritans.
All other states except Maine allow at least some hunting on the day.
A survey by the “Martha’s Vineyard Times” found 54 percent of respondents said hunting should be allowed on private property on Sunday.
More than 300 readers of the paper’s weekday newsletter responded.
Hunting has been seen as a means to cull a growing deer population and to slow the spread of tick-born illnesses.
