A new group is adding its voice to keep wastewater out of Cape Cod Bay.
State Rep. Dylan Fernandes joined environmental and fishing interests in Plymouth this week.
The group is comprised of 19 individuals who seek to intervene in the matter of the former Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station.
The station’s owner, Holtec International wants to discharge more than one million gallons of treated industrial wastewater into the bay.
In July, the Department of Environmental Protection turned down that request, on the grounds Cape Cod Bay is a protected ocean sanctuary.
A state office is considering Holtec’s appeal, which could take up to two years.
