GE Verona Blames Bad Manufacturing For Turbine Issue

GE Verona says a manufacturing defect is the reason for a wind turbine accident off the coast of Nantucket.

Cambridge based GE Verona says insufficient bonding in the manufacturing process is why a piece of a turbine blade over 100 yards long broke off earlier this month.

The problem sent fiberglass and foam pieces into the ocean, and they have been washing up on Nantucket beaches.

The company has produced around 150 of the blades at a factory in Quebec, and immediate inspections have begun.
