Two Massachusetts men have been indicted in a murder for hire plot in Rhode Island.

Elijah Melton of Taunton and Kareem Pires of Wareham are charged in federal court with using an interstate device in commission of murder for hire.

Melton and Pires are accused of trying to orchestrate the killings of two prosecutors and a witness in a drug case.

Melton's attorney says the charges are false and the result of a dishonest jailhouse informant.
