The Mass Maritime Academy is getting a two-million-dollar state grant for a big safety-related project.

The university says the money will be used to design and build a Helicopter Underwater Escape Training unit in its existing Olympic-sized swimming pool.

It'll be used to train workers constructing offshore wind farms how to escape a helicopter during an emergency water landing.

The Academy hopes to start offering the training by 2026.
