Cape And Islands Getting Ready For Lee

A tropical storm warning has been issued for the Massachusetts coast with Hurricane Lee expected to have an impact.

The National Weather Service says Lee is expected to largely pass the state offshore, but the impacts will extend far beyond the center of the storm.

It's expected to bring rough surf and coastal flooding, along with bands of heavy rain and damaging winds.

Shoreline residents of the C-and-I are being urged to take extra precautions for the storm surge expected as Hurricane Lee passes by this weekend.

he National Weather Service says a life-threatening storm surge of two to four feet could lead to localized flooding in some low-lying areas, with the window of greatest concern from Friday evening to Saturday afternoon.

Residents are being told to assemble a kit with disaster-related supplies and know their evacuation route.
