Developer Reduces Martha's Vineyard Wind Project

 Offshore wind developer Revolution Wind is agreeing to cut down the number of turbines off the coast of Martha's Vineyard. 

The company that is owned by Orsted and Eversource is now planning to install no more than 65 turbines off the western part of the Island. 

The wind farm which will provide electricity to Rhode Island and Connecticut was originally supposed to include one-hundred turbines. 

But the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management determined the project would impact the scenic horizon in the town of Aquinnah. 

Despite the change, the Vineyard Gazette reports the project is continuing to face backlash from Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head chairwoman Cheryl Andrews-Maltais. 

She is calling for officials to slow down the permitting process.
