Complaint Filed Against Bourne Middle School Over Termination

A former school counselor is speaking out against Bourne Middle School for failing to accommodate her disability and pregnancy.

Katherine Lockwood was fired after requesting to work from home this school year.

The teacher said her Cystic Fibrosis and pregnancy put her at an increased risk of serious illness with Covid-19.

The school denied her request and terminated her, saying they couldn't reasonably "accommodate working conditions where staff are not physically present in the school building."

Lockwood has since filed a complaint with the Massachusetts Commission against Discrimination and hinted that a lawsuit could follow.
