Leatherback Sea Turtle Rescued In Wellfleet

A massive five-foot long, 600-pound rare Leatherback sea turtle is back in the ocean after a team of volunteers joined together to save the massive animal that stranded on Cape Cod.

Mass Audubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary responded Sunday to a report of a live Leatherback on a mudflat along the Herring River in Wellfleet.

Once back in the water off Provincetown, volunteers say the adult male turtle was alert, responsive, and quickly swam out to sea.
