The West Nile virus has been detected on Cape Cod for the first time this year.
Falmouth Health Director Scott McGann says the best thing people can do for now is to protect themselves from mosquito bites and do things to help prevent the spread of them, such as dispose of pooled water.
McGann says that it is not a positive human case but rather a positive sample from routine mosquito testing in the southwestern portion of town.
