“The History of Hip Hop Music and Dance”

Facilitated by: Professor Rondae Drafts, Ph.D.abd

Hip Hop as a culture has influenced the world. According to Land and Stovall (2009) hip hop began in the late 1970s, and is a billion dollar, international industry which involves music, clothing, break dancing, electronics, media, and DJs. The culture has become a way of life for many young people. This lecture will focus on the roots of dance and music from Hip Hop culture. It will be educational, entertaining, and will ask students to critically examine youth popular culture.

This exciting program will take place on Thursday June 19th at 11AM in the Anne Williams McGraw Atrium at the Osterville Village Library.
