Outermost Contra Dance

Wellfleet Preservation Hall

Celebrate the official start of Spring with a spring in your dance step! Outermost Contra Dance offers a chance to literally swing into Spring!

Our caller this month is special guest Summer McCall experienced dance teacher, musician, festival director and more (summermccall.net). “With an enthusiastic and infectious love for movement, Summer has found herself with long standing experience and joy calling traditional dances for Scottish ceilidhs.”

Summer will be calling to the music of the accomplished and world-renowned musicians, Rose Clancy on fiddle (chathamfiddlecompany.com)and Jacqueline Schwab on piano (jacquelineschwab.com). We are once again honored by their beautiful renditions of traditional dance music.

Contra dancing is the true traditional New England dance, brought here by the Irish, English and Scottish settlers. No fancy footwork needed – if you can walk, you can dance! All the dances are taught and called. The contra dance is family friendly and welcomes dancers of all levels. If you are new to contra or just want to polish your skills, be sure to come to the Contra Skills walk-through at 6:30.

No need to bring a partner; there are plenty of friendly people in this welcoming dance community.

Admission is $15, $10 for those under 30, $5 with student ID!
