In 1978,high-wire artist Karl Wallenda fell to his death while attempting to walk a cable strung between two hotels in San Juan, Puerto Rico.He was 73-years-old.

In 1985,Wendy's hamburger restaurant ended its relationship with Clara Peller.She coined the famous phrase "Where's the Beef?"

in 1990,former tanker captain Joseph Hazelwood was found innocent on three charges in connection with the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska.The jury convicted him on a charge of negligent discharge of oil.

In 1994,animator Walter Lantz died at the age of 93.He created such popular cartoon characters as "Woody Woodpecker," "Andy Panda" and "Chilly Willy."

In 1994,the National Football League announced the addition of the two-point conversion.It was the league's first scoring change in 75 seasons.

In 1999,actor David Strickland was found dead in a Las Vegas motel room, in what was later deemed suicide.Strickland, who co-starred in the sitcom "Suddenly Susan" was 29-years-old.

In 2001,animator, producer William Hanna died at the age of 90.Hanna, along with Joseph Barbera, comprised the cartoon-creating duo of Hanna-Barbera, whose work included the "Tom And Jerry" cartoons, Yogi Bear and "The Flintstones."

In 2004, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, a spiritual leader and co-founder of the Palestinian militant group Hamas was assassinated by Israeli helicopter gunships.The assassination wound the tension between Palestine and Israel even tighter, leading a senior Hamas political leader to declare the battle open between "us and them."

In 2012, the Los Angeles County Coroner made the long-awaited announcement that singer Whitney Houston died from an "accidental drowning" on February 11th, 2012.The coroner also said heart disease and cocaine contributed to the music star's untimely death at the age of 48.

In 2016, terrorists detonated two suitcase bombs in a Belgium airport and another bomb at a subway station in the deadliest act of terrorism in Belgium's history.Thirty-five people were killed, including three suicide bombers and four Americans.More than 300-people were injured.ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack.

In 2016, President Obama and Cuban President Raul Castro attended an exhibition baseball game in Havana.The MLB's Tampa Bay Rays beat the Cuban National Team.It was the first MLB exhibition in Cuba since 1999.

In 2016, rapper Phife Dawg from A Tribe Called Quest died from complications with diabetes at the age of 45.

In 2017 Sib Hashian, who played drums on the first two Boston albums, died at 67 during a performance on a Legends of Rock cruise.
