Harvesting Fish From The Herring River In Harwich Could Return Soon

A nearly 2 decade old moratorium on harvesting fish from the Herring River in Harwich could soon be lifted. The Cape Cod Chronicle reports the select board gave initial approval on Monday to a sustainable fishery management plan which was developed in part by the Massachusetts Division Of Marine Fisheries. The moratorium at the centuries old Herring Run went into effect in 2004 because of a decline in fish numbers, but backers of the reopening plan say there has to be a rebound.
