Cheap Trick Unveil Ferocious New Single 'Light Up The Fire'

Cheap Trick has unveiled its first new original song in about three years, "Light Up the Fire."

The fierce new track plays up the band's hard rock credentials with a typically catchy power-pop chorus. You can listen to it via the player above!

While Cheap Trick hasn't released a full-length studio album since its 2017 Christmas Christmas LP (which capped a three-albums in two years stretch), the band has stayed busy creatively, with a steady stream of singles since 2018's original "Summer Looks Good on You," which was followed by a string of cover songs.

Frontman Robin Zander revealed this past fall that the band had a new album completed but was delaying the release due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Rock and Roll Hal of Famers recently inked a new record deal with BMG. Zander told AXS TV that he and his bandmates don't feel much outside pressure to continue writing new music; he says they are happy to continue to write and record "for ourselves mostly."

"It's something, I think, that is our lifeblood; it keeps us going..." Zander said. "And I believe that we still make quality records. If we didn't, we probably wouldn't do it anymore."
